Being as gorgeous as the models in magazines and on TV, just isn't possible but finding your inner beauty and letting it shine through your skin, IS! Everyone wants to look pretty but to do that, first you need to FEEL pretty! Maybe you need to loose a few pounds or take care of the pimply skin, but sitting back and watching TV will NOT help you with that!

Exercise is one of the most important things in life! Did you know that when you exercise, you become happier? And let me tell you, happiness is definitely important! So what are some ways to have fun, good exercise? Well, that's all up to you!

Maybe you LOVE sports! You could try out for the soccer or cross-country teams at your school in the fall. But why wait until then? Grab some friends and walk down to the baseball diamond at your local elementary school and BATTER UP! Or maybe you absolutely hate sports but still want to lose some weight. Try organizing workouts for yourself. Doing split squats and the active pigeon stretch are good things to start with. They're simple stretches to do before any workout. "But what type of workout should I do in the first place?" You're probably asking. Here are some fun ideas:

  1. biking
  2. yoga
  3. un-organized dancing
  4. rollerblading
  5. 1-on-1 basketball with a friend
  6. swimming
  7. cheerleading
  8. pilates
  9. jogging
  10. and last but not least: chores
You might think: "me? Biking? Not a chance!" But just give it a try. And if you don't like it then walk to the library and pick up the latest movie on yoga. Yoga's not your thing? Go into your bedroom, turn up the speakers and dance the night away! If you'd rather be outside then velcro your roller blades and take a little trip around the neighborhood. Not one for hanging out on your own? Grab a friend and your little bro's basketball and head down the the park to shoot some hoops. So not for getting sweaty? Put on that cute new one-piece bathing suit you got for Christmas and take a dip into the pool for some laps. Chlorine grosses you out? Put on a total kick-butt song and bring your boom box outside for some cheerleading practice. You'd rather not? Get a pilates DVD and start moving some muscles! You can't because your BFF wants you to come over? JOG to her house instead of catching a ride with your errand-running mother. But you have to do your chores first? That's okay! Doing chores is actually exercise--sometimes! Put on a pedometer and by the time you're down with your chores, try to make it over 1000 steps.

I have officially thought of every possible answer to your excuses to get to work and don't complain!

Skin care is hard and that's why it takes a lot of work to keep your skin looking pretty and clean. Some reasons why you may break out or get pimples are listed below:
  1. Puberty - Everyone goes through puberty at some point in their life. Puberty causes a teen's hormone levels to fluctuate. These "raging hormones" often cause break outs. If puberty is why you break out, you'll have to deal with it for now. Puberty lasts a few years.
  2. Eating Habits - Eating unhealthy, greasy foods has been known to cause pimples and break outs. Unhealthy foods such as french fries, chocolate and pizza have a lot of oil and salt - ingredients that affect the skin's pH balance negatively. Avoid eating these foods - and touching your face with salty, oily fingers - whenever possible.
  3. Stress - Many researchers discovered that stress is linked to acne. When you're stressed out, your sebaceous glands tend to produce more pore-clogging oil. De-stress by taking baths or exercising to let off steam.
  4. Poor Hygiene - In the past poor hygiene was associated with acne. Although it's been proven that people with varying degrees of personal hygiene can still suffer breakouts, acne and pimples do occur when oil, dirt and makeup are not washed off - especially before bedtime. Washing your face with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water is recommended twice a day.
Taking care of your skin isn't easy but here are a few tips to having clear and beautiful skin: Pimples can pop up very easily on your chest and back--not just your face! Body acne can be made worse by wearing tight shirts, using sweat-trapping backpacks, wearing camis, and even too-tight bra straps. To help get rid of your body acne, shower as soon as possible after exercising and use a loofah and a salicylic acid body wash. Washing your face with warm water will help open up pores and remove oil from your face. Keep astringent pads or oil-blotting sheets in your locker or backpack to get rid of shiny skin in the middle of the school day. Only use facial products that are specifically for oily skin and make sure that you aren't OVER-WASHING your face--once in the morning, once at night, and after you workout is enough. Washing your face too much can make MORE oil and that's the last thing you need! Genetics take a big part in skin types. If your mom had acne then it's fairly likely that you will too, unfortunately.

Hair care is another important thing. Dry hair, split ends, and greasy hair are all not-so-pretty things. Taking care of your hair is very important. If your hair is greasy, then the oil comes from your scalp. To help it, try washing your hair every day and use a shampoo that is specifically for oily hair. And make sure to rub it into your scalp! Straightening or curling your hair a lot can dry your hair out which isn't good. Try to only use a straightener or curling iron two times per week at the most! Split ends are what you call the ends of someone's hair when they look all straggly and gross. To get rid of them, you just need to cut them off! Go to your local hairdressers or call in to make an appointment and tell the hairdresser that you simply want to get rid of your split ends. That will take care of it! You want to get your hair trimmed every six to eight weeks.
