There are so many jobs out there but depending on your age, only so many are available. Babysitting is one that many girls choose. It's fun (for most), well-paid, easy, and prepares you for becoming a mother, if you ever want to be one. BUT many girls think that babysitting is the ONLY job that's available. NOT TRUE!!! On this page you will see a lot of different jobs that girls of all ages can do (organized by age). So take a look!
Ages 8-10
- Dog walking. Many people will begin to trust you at this age and dogs are a great thing to begin taking care of! Especially if you really want to own a dog but your parents say something like "you need to prove that you are responsible to this this".
- Mother's Helper. Being a mother's helper is great practice for babysitting and you'll learn different things that you need--for life! Such as, how to communicate with people that don't talk, how to take care of someone else, the responsibility of taking care of someone else, and other things.
- Babysitting. This is a big responsibility and yet so awesomely fun! It pays really well (always a bonus!) but that can also be something to worry about. You will need to decide what to charge. I'm fairly inexperienced and right now I charge $7 and hour but prices vary depended on your age, the child's age, the amount of kids you are babysitting, your experience, and a few other things like how much the parents are willing to charge and whether or not you choose to have a sliding scale.
- Snow shoveler. I know that nobody wants to do this but people will pay you a bunch of money to do this! A lot of adults work all day and when they get home at night they want to be able to get up their driveways without having to shovel first. They also want to get someone who won't charge a lot. Plus this will get you into shape for bikini season!
- Parent Helper. Does one of your parents run their own store or company or simply need help with their work? See if there's something you can do: stapling papers, deleting documents on the computer, talking to customers, anything!
- There are lots of other jobs for you out there so get on the web and search around!
- In a store. Depending on the laws in your state, you might be able to start working in a store right about now! How about the corner store down the street-- are they hiring? Or what about the ice cream shop next door-- they might need some help!
- Babysitting. Parents will want to keep you as their babysitting because their kids have grown up with you! So keep that babysitting gig going! $8-$10 an hour is an appropriate price now that you are older and more experienced!
- House sitter. It may seem stupid but some people will pay you to watch their house during the day for a few days while they're out of town. Usually they trust adults with this more but if you show them how mature you are then they should be more opt to letting you help out!
- Tutor. Tutoring can be hard but if you know what you're doing then you should be fine! Use your favorite search engine to get some tips on how to start your own tutoring business.
